Explore Together

From the North Cascades to the Skagit and Methow Valleys, the Salish Sea and beyond, North Cascades Institute offer exciting ways for you to learn about the natural and cultural history of this unique region.

Founded in 1986, we are a nationally recognized education nonprofit organization that empowers people of all ages and backgrounds to explore, enjoy and learn about the mountains, rivers, forests, people and wildlife of the Pacific Northwest—so all will care for and protect this special place.

Our passion is teaching in person in the outdoors, but since that isn't possible during this time of coronavirus and quarantine, we have pivoted to create online learning opportunities, so we can stay connected with you and you can discover new ways to connect with the natural world: Mountain School @ Home, Virtual Skagit Tours, Poetry in the Rain videos and Family Getaway @ Home activity boxes!

Check out our blog for all kinds of stories, videos and photo galleries from the North Cascades, sign up for our monthly eNewsletter to get all the latest news on Institute programs and events, and be sure to follow us on Facebook and Instagram for inspiring images, regional conservation news, fun nature facts and much more.
