WWU Graduate School Tuition and Fees

For the first quarter of this program, students will attend classes on the WWU campus and live near the University; graduates will be responsible for their own housing and food costs during this time. The next four quarters students are provided housing at various locations on or near the Environmental Learning Center. The final two quarters students will live near WWU in Bellingham, and will provide their own housing. Students are responsible for their own health insurance (available through the University here), books and supplies, transportation, laptop and personal outdoor equipment.

Students live at or nearby the North Cascades Environmental Learning Center during the four-quarter residency. There is no cost for housing, but students are responsible for their own meals (each living unit has a kitchen) unless they are working directly in a Learning Center youth or adult program. During the final two quarters of study, graduate students move to Bellingham at their own expense, to attend courses at WWU.

Students are required to have their own Internet-ready laptop computer (Mac preferred) to use during their residency at the Learning Center.

Students are strongly encouraged to have their own transportation. The Learning Center is remotely located along State Route 20 in North Cascades National Park. The nearest services (e.g., gas station, small grocer, post office) are 20 miles to the west. Bellingham is approximately 2.5 hours from the Learning Center, Seattle 3.5 hours.

Wilderness First Responder certification is required for this graduate program. You will need your WFR certificate prior to the start of the residency. The estimated cost for certification is $600-$800
